Announcement

Families who have children and young people with special needs very often deal with similar life styles. We have all had concerns ranging from education, acess to services, respite and other issues directly related to their childrens needs. Parents of disabled children bring families together for friendship, to share information and to support one another.

The forum was created by parents who have children with special needs and is run by parents so we are all in this together. With us you will realise you are not alone

Parents of disabled children launched in October 2009 and we are growing day by day and are fastly becoming a major support resource for all

Sorry I've not been on I missed all of you too! Its just been the usual thing of coping with Christmas & the holidays & also all the appointments and things happening at the start of the holidays I don't really know where to start with talking about it all! We had a good if quiet and slightly unconvential Christmas (plain boiled spaghetti for the childrens Christmas dinner etc!) but it has been nice whereas the school holidays usually are a total nightmare for us so that was good. The day after school starts 3 of us are going through the tenders that the council has received in response to their renewing the contract for lots/(all?) the disabled childrens services in our area (3 of us are doing holiday care for the younger ones & other parents are doing other services/ages) so that will be busy for a couple of days and then one of us is going to the panel to give the parents input. We've seen the paediatrician, occupational therapist and social worker so lots has happened on that. Mostly I've just had time to pop on & see how you are doing but not to start typing anything! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and that the New Year will be a good one. xxxxx

im here too, this christmas has been hard on the Children very overwhelming. ive been feeling ill but i know that is from stress (i always start to feel sick and dizzy and like i need to sleep). ive started painting which is helping, im totally dreading going back to school as from when i wrote that letter of complaint. as i know i have to complain about the senco.

but im looking forward to the new year.... mmmh respite.

Becky your luck you get respite, i feel like saying sod off to the professionals. we are going to see how long it takes for our social worker to get in touch. we havent had respite since the end of november for daniel well matthew is a bit young yet, but we get sense scotland worker in for matthew but due to weather i am putting her on hold.
My new year resolution is to get on with my life and stop moaning about things. and have a good life.

Hello Everyone Smile

Hope you all had a good christmas, ours was great but glad it's over! Had to take the tree down, fed up of Jack yanking all the tinsel off and tip-toeing round the room wrapped in it - he looked very fetching Tongue I've eaten enough to feed a small country and gained another spare tyre Big Grin.
Blimey I can't believe how many posts there are, loads to read. Hope you all have a Happy New Year - any resolutions anyone?

Jack actually opened a few presents himself this year and has played with a couple of his toys without much direction from us so we were thrilled. Only a few Toy Story figurines and a couple of jigsaws, but still good progress! He had to have his christmas dinner at tea-time though (wouldn't entertain 2pm, out of his routine) but apart from that everything went well. Except for OH acting like christmas was ruined and he was going to starve to death because I'd forgotten his christmas tub of dry roasted peanuts Dodgy Men! Big Grin
