Announcement

Families who have children and young people with special needs very often deal with similar life styles. We have all had concerns ranging from education, acess to services, respite and other issues directly related to their childrens needs. Parents of disabled children bring families together for friendship, to share information and to support one another.

The forum was created by parents who have children with special needs and is run by parents so we are all in this together. With us you will realise you are not alone

Parents of disabled children launched in October 2009 and we are growing day by day and are fastly becoming a major support resource for all

International members

Right i really need members help and feedback.
We are having a major influx of members trying to join from abroad.
Parents from places such as America.
For the past few months ive been deleting them as i had always thought the advice we share is based on the UK System such as education and benefits and healthcare.

But am i doing the right thing?

Could we allow a seperate section for international members or would it complicate things?

Would allowing international members help bring new ideas to the table?

See im in a pickle here so really would like your views Smile

Im also starting a poll

I'm on a separate group for my children's condition Cri-du-chat syndrome and quite frankly i wouldn't know anything about the affects on my children if it weren't for them, so yes i would agree to them being on this site. Obviously they couldn't comment on benefits etc but they would be able to advise and communicate with other parents with children that have the same conditions.

I too am on a separate site for one of my daughters---she has Smith Magenis Syndrome-- and find it so useful talking to parents from all over the world.

So from a support point of view then yes i agree it has benefits.
But lets assume we got a strong following from America and they all started talking about there procedures there would it not add an element of confusion?
And also would the country divide possibly lead to a them and us divide?
