Hi there Daniel,

I suppose i could say issues were very apparent to me from 4 months old, he never sat up or walked or even rolled over at the appropriate times. I was told i was just being an over anxious mother!!!! they only started taking me seriously when donnie turned 19 months old which is ridiculous and even now they r only just getting round to sending him off for genetic testing. He has speech and language therapy but i know deep down there is more too it than speech. only time will tell.

I have a son with GDD too, fortunate or unfortunate, my son has a bleed on the brain and cists and stopped breathing thankfully because of this we seem to be getting more care but that is not without a lot of fighting and phone calls over and over.

My son is just over a year and is also waiting for genetic testing, can I ask does your son walk and sit up now, if not he should be having physio and OT help too.

Is your Health visitor any good, thanks to them I have had more help ?

It is hard, I am 29 and find it no easier.

Hi Kara,

Donnie now sits up and walks he sat at 9 months and crawled at 14/15 months and didnt walk until 2 years of age. My Health visitor is good but the only reason is that my old one went off sick and she was totally useless she never picked up on his slow development so hence donnie was only put in the "system" as it were until 19 months 10 months later we have now got him glasses as he has visual impairment. I think deep down i think there is more too it other than GDD but will have to sit tight and wait.

Kara i feel the same as you do although i tend to blame myself a lot and hence iam now on antideppressents to help me, wouldnt change him for the world thou.

Perspectives on life change a lot though gone are the days when all you worried about was the weather and work

There comes a point in your life when you realize:Who matters,Who never did,Who won't anymore...And who always will..
So, don't worry about people from your past, there's a reason why they didn't make it to your future.
