Special needs postural buggies - advice/recommendations
cheapsensorytoys
Hi, I have an appointment tomorrow with wheelchair services for my son's first SN buggy. He has Quad CP and is 3. He has low tone in the trunk so needs good postural support for doing things with his hands, although he can sit without support if he doesn't need to use his hands. Anyway physio suggested they would offer mini-CAPs buggy, which I am not too excited about as they look huge and heavy and really horrible! I gather they have a voucher system so if we want something different to what offered we can use vouchers instead and top up ourselves. I get the impression that the CAPs is the standard thing they offer, presumably as it is the cheapest. Primarily I need a buggy which I can get in and out of the car relatively easily without breaking my back! What do other people have - any experiences with the CAPs or other buggy systems, and recommendations as to what we might look at? Thank you!

hi i have a buggy from wheelchair buggy from wheelchair service called SWIFTY, its ok but ive seen better, after i got mine, they only gave us one to look at, so didnt have much choice. My daughter is 4 and a half, and she was 3 when she got it, i think they should have been more choice as she couldnt even sit unaided back then. So if you dont like what they offer i ould get the vouchers and have a good look around first. Nat

We've been offered a Tom Cross Country as our first SN chair - our son is 18 months. The caps was their preferred offer to us but our Physio said it was horrible and it was!! So she suggested the Tom and it is much nicer. We are actually looking for a 3 wheeler so we can go country walking with it - I wondered if anyone had any experience of those?
