we do Makaton, basically a simplified childrens sign language, I knew some already as my sister a primary school teacher to special needs, but we have Portage and they teach us as do our SALT worker do you have either in your local are as totally free.

Our Paed and Keyworker joined us to Portage.

We use Makaton and if we didin't I think Teddys life would be very different. He has no speech and his only way of communicating is by Makaton. I went on a course when he was about 2yrs old, he is now 8, his signing is brilliant. He learns at least one new sign a week. I have bought various books from the makaton website and they also give you free downloads which I print off. Makaton is a life saver for us
