Hi there. My little boy had a biopsy when he was 3 months old from the top of his leg (front of the thigh) He is 4 this year and we are still waiting for a diagnosis but there are lots of conditions that can be detected from the biopsy so it is very useful. Which hospital will do the biopsy? Its not as bad as you'd think, its worse for us really. My little boy just came out with a few steri strips and the scar has healed ok.

Are you seeing a Neuromuscular specialist or are you just seeing a paediatrician? We see the Neuro team in Alder Hey and they are amazing. Have they given you any indications as to what they are looking for?

Hi

My son had a skin biopsy recently at Great Ormond hosp. They decided to take a sample from the area on the arm below the arm pit. The area was numbed by applying a lotion. Then they injected a local local anaesthetic and finally they took a sample with a device that looked like a tubular punch. It didn't hurt him. They put some strips to heal the wound and we were not to bath him for 3 days.

My daughter Sophie had one done on the thigh when she was 2yrs, as someone else mentioned it leaves just a small circlular scar. Sophie's didnt help find a diagnosis but I hope it does for your little one. xxxx
