hi my little lad who has gdd and possible autism, just waiting really for official diagnosis, has now started to take off his clothes where ever he feels like it,at the moment hes still in nappies, thank goodness but it doesnt help when in a roomfull of people he statrs stripping off. Also he hates getting dressed, having nappy changed etc..ive tried distracting him but it doesnt work as hes very often in a world of his own and doesnt respond to me,any advice would be great, thanks.

does he respond to bribery? i find that works with euan (he has medical problems but is also being assessed for possible asd as he has behavioural issues and some odd behaviours) failing that, tighter trousers, belts, fiddly buttons he cannot undo.....braces maybe (you can actually i think buy them in asda if i remember rightly). with the nappies you just have to be as quick as possible, i often get a foot in my face but to be honest, aside from bribery i cannot think of a solution to that one so i would also be interested to see if anyone else has. The hospital have refered us to a play specialist to try and help us resolve these sort of issues and the ones he has with regard to his medical treatment, i'll put it to them and update what they suggest aswell.

hi lucy,i cant bribe him unfortunately as his level of understanding isnt good at all hes 2yrs 7 months but at the level of a 1 yr old,ive tried belts but he can undo them and likes to spin them round in the air..not good ive nearly had my eye taken out several times.Hes also in 12-18 month clothes very tiny for his age but also very strong,he can knock me over without effort and thats an achievment lol

mmm braces i think he would twang them to death lol hes very fixed on spinning, twanging, twiddling, and if he managed to remove them i would fear for peoples safety as they went twirling round in the air lol but i might give them a go anythings worth a try.
