Hi Daniel,

So far i have tried 3 peadeatricians, all of which are collegues and none are willing to override the first (higher position).
I was so upset with having to repeat myself again and fight to get a referral that i was in tears, at which point she asked if i had mental health issues!
Im so fed up of this. I know my son isn't classic or severe. They admit he has features and characteristics but will not put him forward for assessment, yet 50% of those with his condition are on the spectrum. My head is hurting from all the brick wall banging its been doing!
Happiness is the path we lead not the destination Idea

Your story sounds so typical.
Its just one big fight for parents.
Is there any chance you could see another doctor at another centre?

i think if my pead turns my son down for an assesment of autism i will be stuck as she is the head of the ASD department. makes you want to go private, god knows how much that would cost.
