We've been offered a 3 bedroomed house with 2 living rooms, upstairs bathroom and downstairs shower room. Which to me sounds fantastic, but according to the girls OT's Manager they would be better off in a bungalow LONG TERM. But i know for a fact that they don't have 4 bedroomed bungalows on there books, what do you think i should do, or is there something that i could do to make them get me one??

They will usually quote 'available stock' but if you are lucky and have a good representative they can usually use their partnership agreements with neighbouring councils and housing associations to find the right house/flat/bungalow. Some does depend on whether you would be willing or able to uproot and move to a new area maybe quite a few miles from your support network...... whereabouts are you?

We live in Belfast and we currently have housing with the housing executive. There the largest in northern Ireland so if they don't have one i doubt the rest would, and there's no way i would move into private housing either.

I wouldnt suggest private housing to anyone unlesss it was just for 6 months or so........ you would be surprised how many of the smaller social landlords have specialist housing or access to funds to convert properties in special circumstances, have a chat with a decent housing adviser at the law centre and see what they say on your chances Smile

I have my youngest child in a downstairs bedroom that was specially built for her also go a wet floor bathroom for her downstairs. Do you need downstairs bedroom and bathroom or can your girls manage stairs? What will their future hold? I would say if you can get something now that will suit their longterm needs if you can; if your OT says you need a bungalow can she not expediate things to get one?
