Regarding the DWP handbook
Hi everyone

I have just looked through the handbook for my sons condition, and was surprised to see it there, however, unlike most of the others, it says. "Decision Makers are advised to discuss with the Departments Medical Services provider if necessary".

Could this be because the condition is rare and what do you think this statement means exactly.

Many thanks.

Ginny

RE: Regarding the DWP handbook
My understanding of that would be that if the applicant has been unclear as to how the condition affects everyday life then medical advice should be asked for.......... but then I'm a bloke so most likely completely wrong Wink

RE: Regarding the DWP handbook
I think it is something like that, basically, they have to seek medical advice because it can affect people differently possibly. Or like you say, because its rare, its the same with our sons, they have to seek advice as its not as clearcut as other conditions! X

RE: Regarding the DWP handbook
Although I do community care grants we too have a directions and guide as well as the law to adhere to and if the condition is complex or more likely we cannot get enough information to make a decision from the applicant we are advised to contact other sources.
