OT/Physio trying to sighn us off again!!!!!
cheapsensorytoys
Hi,

Does anyoune else have the same problem with OT and Physio.....every 6 months they try to sighn my daughter off their books. Im always in contact with them and say we need help with this or that etc, they never phone or visit unless i am in contact with them! Last week we had a phone call from the OT saying that she will be sighning my daughter off, i expalained the problem areas that she needed help with, she said she would do a school visit but sighn her off after that!!! This has happened before only for us to speak to the paed and him referring my daughter back to them but as you all are probably aware this takes 4-6 months! It just really gets me down as i have to fight justo keeper on their books when she genuinely needs their help and input!! My little girl is 6 and has a diagnosis of Autism, SPD and Crohn's Disease. I hope someone else can relate to this and share some advice on how I can stop them signing her off all the time! Thanks. X

Being diagnosed with SPD that is probably the area that she needs most help with! Is unable to go to assembly, shows etc due to the noise and the unexpected! I have also asked for help with eating coordination as this could be improved on to. Due to chronic disease she has early sighns of arthritis, hypermobility etc and regurlar Physio would also keep this in check! We have been promised rebound therapy! But still waiting.

Our OT wrote to the school with instructions for areas where help is needed and the school wrote out IEPs for them. Euan does a little bit each day in all of them. Could OT not do something like that then check on the schools progress after 6months?xx

That would be a perfect solution, but they always seem to always want to do a home visit rather then school! I do think this is down to being less involved with school and easier again to sighn off etc as school wouldn't know that they are "helping" unless I was telling them and keeping them up to date with everything! But I think it would be taken much more serious if it was coming from a professional rather then coming from mum! The odd thing is they always try to sighn us off before annual review!!! This is one of the reasons we started going to brainwave as we felt we needed help from someone and not getting it from where we should! Over 2 weeks on and nothing has been arranged with school yet!
