Announcement

Families who have children and young people with special needs very often deal with similar life styles. We have all had concerns ranging from education, acess to services, respite and other issues directly related to their childrens needs. Parents of disabled children bring families together for friendship, to share information and to support one another.

The forum was created by parents who have children with special needs and is run by parents so we are all in this together. With us you will realise you are not alone

Parents of disabled children launched in October 2009 and we are growing day by day and are fastly becoming a major support resource for all

He did part of Reception in the independent school and they were happy to keep him there and accommodate him. In fact they were moving the earth for him and it was with a very heavy heart he left. they were in fact providing him with 1:1 support and the LEA were funding 5 hours but they wanted us in state and with a full time 1:1 etc. Looking back I wish we had stuck with our own plan as it was working just great and like you say only 12 per class.

I would send him back in a flash but since we moved him our finances pretty tight. The recession has seen hubbys workload get lighter. I really need to find a way to get him back there and I will keep trying.

A little update on today. When I dropped him off there was no communication as I said before and when I collected him his 1:1 was nowhere to be seen he was just sent out like the other Children when his class teacher saw me. So once again no hand over or communication just the home diary filled in. I really do not feel comfortable with him being there until it is resolved. Someone suggested I call the welfare officer and ask if I was within my rights to keep him home until the meeting has happened on friday but hubby said he felt uncomfortable with that and just to grin and bear it. Why is everything such a fight hey! x x x

Hi, I feel so sad/angry reading this....I really feel over you. Good luck for tomorrow, stay strong and I hope all goes well and you have some answers. Xx

Things can be hard on occasions but well worth it!Heart

my son has just got his statement and when we got it my son didnt have a choice of school because the lea sent his statement to this school which is nearer. i got told that if i wanted my son to go to a diffrent school we would need to pay for him to get to that school but a gurl up the road from me got transport for her son. so i kicked off about it and got the transport but this school hes at now when i spoke to the head teacher she said that the only thing they cant meet is the additional adult 1-1 support but they told the lea they can meet everything. he has started there now and hes on reading books but now we ave come to a standstill. i got told that i could go in and speak to the teachers when ever i felt like i needed to. and on friday i wanted to speak to his teacher before went to the docs with my son and i got told to speak to the head. i am uneasy him going here now i dont know why i just got a feeling
