Parents of disabled children bring families together for friendship, to share information and to support one another.

The forum was created by parents who have children with special needs and is run by parents so we are all in this together. With us you will realise you are not alone

Parents of disabled children launched in October 2009 and we are growing day by day and are fastly becoming a major support resource for all

Hi All

just a quikie
we have a motability car already its manual , and i recently passed and have noticed i have a lot of aches on my legs and cramps due to putting it in gear ...(due to all the care etc stress ) i tend to get wierd aches n pains

i spoke to motability (lovely lady) explained auto would be better if i was going to drive it on day to day basis (which i am)
she said it was ok to cancel contract early due to the problems i am experiencing (i said can get dr note etc)
she said go have a look

now the problem is this .....i have had a look at the autos and oh my gosh!! they are expensive well the advance payment is ......it goes from 600 onwards
i am not touching a petrol auto as it will just drink and i can not afford it so it would be a diesel auto ...and they are not cheap!! im so shocked

i mean a ford focus diesel 2.0 auto - ap= 1,700 ???

disgusting!!
we dont need a massivley big car as i worry i cant handle it so it has to be a medium with big boot space

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr just wanted to moan!!! im back to square one!!

Hi

Just thought I would let you know that Motability do have a grant you can apply for to help with paying a large deposit....we considered it when we had to swap to a WAV and the deposits were thousands! We got a loan in the end as with the grant they do more or less tell you which vehicle you have to have apparently.....so they go for the most suitable with the lowest deposit which in our case was going to be a big van thing!!!

But if your quite open minded as to the actual car make as long as its got a decent boot and is automatic, it might be an option for you Smile

Give them a ring and ask about it xx

there are 2 answers on facebook to your post

We've just ordered a scoda fabia estate with dsg gear box, it has no clutch and you can chose if you use the normal gear stick or not, its almost an auto but better In my opinion . I think the deposit was around 450 so lots less than you were looking at. Also you can apply for a grant but it takes ages to process and you will almost certainly have to provide medical evidence as to why you need an auto x

There comes a point in your life when you realize:Who matters,Who never did,Who won't anymore...And who always will..
So, don't worry about people from your past, there's a reason why they didn't make it to your future.
