Announcement

Families who have children and young people with special needs very often deal with similar life styles. We have all had concerns ranging from education, acess to services, respite and other issues directly related to their childrens needs. Parents of disabled children bring families together for friendship, to share information and to support one another.

The forum was created by parents who have children with special needs and is run by parents so we are all in this together. With us you will realise you are not alone

Parents of disabled children launched in October 2009 and we are growing day by day and are fastly becoming a major support resource for all

Sad what a shame......deffinatly ring them....atleast if you appeal (and more appeals win than not) it still gets backdated to when you first made the application. Its just a pain and extra stess you don't need

Partner just rang, they said the descesion maker doesnt feel Samuel needs any more help than the average 5year old when outside.
Dont know how they say that though concidering hes walked infront of moving vehicles before now, aswel as moving swings etc and is oblivious to the ongoings around him. He trys to walk off whilst in big shopping malls etc, and cant run properly & finds it hard to climb stairs. Our health visitor told us ages ago that Samuel would proberbly require someone to make decesions for him later on in life due to hes learning difficulties as he is very vunerable otherwise, so to me that means he would require extra help outdoors than the average person as he is a danger to himself aswel as others.

What would you do being in my shoes? The women n the phone said wait till we get the letter to say we aint getting mobility and if we still think we should be entitled to mobility then to ring back and they will explain how to appeal. Is it worth just taking the letter into citizens advice or?..am i wastein my time?
Huh ....eeekkk..... Huh

i would appeal....like i said more are won at appeal than lost Smile i think you can provide extra info and ask them to look at it again then theres the tribuneral option. CAB might be an idea or there are other organizations that can help. Some people asl their welfare officers to help or people from social services....do you have anyone like that available to help you!?

''...eeeekkk.....'' sounds about right Big Grin its a daunting task ahead but if your entitled to it then go for it!! its just a shame we sometimes have to fight for what we are entitled to Angry
