I just wanted to share with you what we have done in Thomas's bedroom in case anyone would like to do the same for their child.

Thomas responds very well to sensory rooms so we decided we would make his bedroom into one. We don't have bundles of money, so it had to be "on the cheap". This is what we did.....

He already had pale lemon on his walls except for one we painted a wavy line of yellow at the bottom, big wavy blue section in the middle and small section left neutral at the top of the wall. This is your sky, sea and seabed. We bought some giant stickers from ebay and stuck them on the painted wall... fish, bubbles, treasure chest, dolphin, whale and seahorses etc.

We bought a bubble tube from argos for £15
mirror ball with lights from maplins £13
Bubble blowing machine from maplins £7
UV blacklight from maplins £14

We also went to hawkins bazaar
(they have website too) and bought some squishy balls, a ball that lights up when you throw it, a ball that lights up and makes a weird noise when you hold it, a groaning tube which glows bright green under the uv light and a bell like the ones you get in a hotel reception.

Every night after dinner we give him a session before his bath and it really helps to calm him down. Of course he still doesn't give into anywhere between midnight and 3am but that's just Thomas lol. It does have a good effect on his mood, and his aggression seems to have improved since we started the regular sessions

It might not be perfect or as good as spacecraft but it's a start and a bloomin site cheaper lol

Wow well done you it sounds great. We also got a bubble tube from argos & I think they're really good & so much cheaper. We also got a tent like cover for the bed from ikea so its a bit more enclosed and cosy which he loves. I will definately be looking up some of the other things you've mentioned! Thanks.

We were looking at the bubble tubes are they the ones with fish in because Euan loves these?

We got the fish one & I think its really good. It probably could do with a bracket round the top to fix it to the wall so it doesnt get knocked over but then you're supposed to do this for the proper ones too so you could buy one of those although my husband said he would make one and ahem hasnt got round to it yet hint hint if he ever reads this! So far its been ok without though & being wedged in the corner (we also told everyone that its VERY expensive and not to EVER touch it!). The only thing I've found is that the colours rotate as there's a disk that goes round & sometimes it goes one way and sometimes it goes the other. Owen immediately decided that the first way it started up when we first used it was the "right" way so there is a lot of switching it off & back on again to make sure its always going the "right" way otherwise big tantrums - so just watch out for this lol!
