Announcement

Families who have children and young people with special needs very often deal with similar life styles. We have all had concerns ranging from education, acess to services, respite and other issues directly related to their childrens needs. Parents of disabled children bring families together for friendship, to share information and to support one another.

The forum was created by parents who have children with special needs and is run by parents so we are all in this together. With us you will realise you are not alone

Parents of disabled children launched in October 2009 and we are growing day by day and are fastly becoming a major support resource for all

Hi all iam new to this site too my little boy is nearly 2 years old he has athetoid/dystonic cerebral palsy he cant hold things in his hands use jhis arms or legs in any purpose way he cant support his head sit crawl or anything. He is tube fed completely now after swallow xray showd he was a silent aspirator and that he took 3 swallows to try and swallow 1ml of milk so they said it was too dangerous to feed him and that he would be tube fed indefinately. He is profoundly deaf in both ears as well and suffers from gerd he is a very happy wee boy and too look at him u wouldnt think there was anything wrong with him we are waiting peg tube insertion

After coming across this site it is really good to know that we r not alone and that everyone is going through similar experiences

hi, i am new to the site and trying to find out information. i have a 7 year old daughter born at 27 weeks gestation with birth weight of less than 1.5 pounds. She has been going to mainstream school which she enjoys and has friends, she uses a wheelchair and walking frame. she was unable to walk with her walking frame till she had her hamstring lengthen when she was about 4 now she complains her feet are itching her a lot and the school goes have been giving me hugh hints that she is not improving in her learning as she does not remember things learnt and it appears her needs both physically , mentally and emotionally are not what they can deal with. what should i do
