Announcement

Families who have children and young people with special needs very often deal with similar life styles. We have all had concerns ranging from education, acess to services, respite and other issues directly related to their childrens needs. Parents of disabled children bring families together for friendship, to share information and to support one another.

The forum was created by parents who have children with special needs and is run by parents so we are all in this together. With us you will realise you are not alone

Parents of disabled children launched in October 2009 and we are growing day by day and are fastly becoming a major support resource for all

Hi everyone,
I have a a disabled daughter who is 17 and has severe brain damage from a accident that happened when she was 13. she used to live with myself and just before her accident was living with her mother over 200 miles away. she is now in a residential school which is 200 miles away from myself. i have been fighting for parental responsibility for a long time and now i have this, i would like to find a way around having her to come and stay with myself and my partner for weekends and holidays. we live in a tiny rented 2 bedroomed house with her baby sister, and as we are in this position it is impossible to have her here. im sure i should have some rights to have her stay and get help with moving to a more suitable home but have no idea where to start, if she didnt live so far away it wouldnt be a problem but as it stands we have no way of seeing her without traveling 200 miles to visit which is costly and not good enough to spend a hour every so often with her.
would be grateful for any advice. thank u
