INCOME SUPPORT AND WORK advice pls
cheapsensorytoys
Hi All

hope all is well havnt posted on here for a while been ever so busy Smile

just wanted to know we all get income support (me hubby son) carers allowance and my son gets dla

the rates of mortgage interest has lowered (just great!!Sad!!)

thanx to cameron and co!!

its immpossible for me and hubby to work as my son needs care 24 hours , hubby is better than me as my health is not too good

but i was thinking if we were allowed to just work p/t like few hours at a shop or something just to bring extra income in as its financially hard to cope, but would they take the earnings off the amount of income support? or are we allowed to work just a few hours without it affecting the benefit? im not sure and would be very greatful if anyone could advise me

thankyou x

Not working or working less than 16 hours a week

To get Income Support, you must either not be working at all or work less than 16 hours a week. If you have a partner who lives with you, your partner must work under 24 hours a week. If they work for 24 hours or more, you won’t be able to get Income Support. If your partner is claiming income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance or income-related Employment and Support Allowance, this will also prevent you getting Income Support.

the person claiming carers cannot earn more than £100 or this would be atken away as well.

I don't know much more than that (google) so hopefully someone here will be able to let you know more.
