Disabled bays in the news

I dont think its right however for me to place this on a public forum in which we champion fair parking for disabled people so i wont reveal the loophole on here in case a member of the public ever find this and use it to there advantage. But its right tickets cannot be legally enforced! Also if other members do know the reason PLEASE dont share it here ![]() Our Irish members can also use our new website for Ireland which is |

ok there is your answer then, hire ppl to check out the carparks and if they find someone parked in disabled bays or p&c bays (there is no reason they cant issue parents of young children with a badge)then clamp them, that way they would have to go to either customer services or wherever they are based to pay a fine and get it unclamped unless they can prove they can park there (didnt put disabled badge in clear area or like me drop a glove over the clock hehe). the only way to stop ppl from parking where they shouldnt is to give them a good reason that affects them, calling their numberplate over the tannoy is rot as i wouldnt even recognise my own why should i care about someone elses hitting them in the pocket would make me smile
![]() corinne There comes a point in your life when you realize:Who matters,Who never did,Who won't anymore...And who always will.. So, don't worry about people from your past, there's a reason why they didn't make it to your future. |

This is the thing hitting people in the pocket is the only way.
Its funny because Netmums approached Sainsburys and they said they would work with them to improve the parking. But the reality is that SUPERMARKETS DONT WANT TO FINE people because people will not shop there and as such will just go elsewhere where they get away with it so the supermarket will lose business. So money is the reason they wont enforce the bays. Obviously the goverment cant govern disabled bays on private land but they should make an offence under the DDA that those businesses failing to provide and maintain disabled facilities should face a fine. When i say provide i dont mean just provide as they have to do this anyway but i mean they have to ENSURE they stay as planned and used as planned. ![]() Our Irish members can also use our new website for Ireland which is |

Just spotted this in the Sun paper today, can't find it online to link though so will have to quote the piece, written by Kelvin Mackenzie, instead.
"Did you ever wonder why supermarkets have so many empty disabled parking bays? The answer is simple. By some ridiculous law, they have to provide 6% of the bays to the disabled while only 1.4% of the country is disabled. Whose idea was this and why is it a law at all?" I don't have time right now to put everything I want to, but my god! Why is the law 'ridiculous'? I'd like to have him live his life as a parent of, or a disabled person for a few weeks, I wonder if he'd be so sniffy then.

I saw this today as well in the sun in the top right of the page and it got me angry again.
Really 6% is not much as they make out. Of 100 cars in a carpark it means 6 bays. Out of 200 it means 12. So when you look at the numbers is nothing really is it!!! ![]() Our Irish members can also use our new website for Ireland which is |
