Announcement

Families who have children and young people with special needs very often deal with similar life styles. We have all had concerns ranging from education, acess to services, respite and other issues directly related to their childrens needs. Parents of disabled children bring families together for friendship, to share information and to support one another.

The forum was created by parents who have children with special needs and is run by parents so we are all in this together. With us you will realise you are not alone

Parents of disabled children launched in October 2009 and we are growing day by day and are fastly becoming a major support resource for all

Just wanted to say hi to the other Scottish families. We live in the Southside of Glasgow - My Partner John, daughter Sophia 3, daughter Cara 5mths and myself, Stacy. Cara hasn't had a diagnosis yet but we attend Yorkhill (as I see do some of you) weekly to see different doctors hoping that they can make a diagnosis. It's hard to know the extent of the problems because Cara is only 5mths but doctors have told us as she gets older a condition may become more apparent if she isn't meeting her development milestones. She is already behind with some of the average milestones for her age - she has low muscle tone meaning she doesn't have head control yet. I've been working hard on her physio exersices and have seen a massive improvement in the last month so we are getting there slowly but surely. How do you all find Yorkhill Hospital. It's great place isn't it?
