3 rooms = 5 people
4 rooms = 7.5 people
5 or more rooms = 2 people per room.
But the floor area of a room also determines how many people can sleep in it:

floor area 110 sq feet (10.2 sq metres approx) = 2 people
floor area 90 - 109 sq ft (8.4 - 10.2 sq m approx) = 1.5 people
floor area 70 - 89 sq ft (6.5 - 8.4 sq m approx) = 1 person
floor area 50 - 69 sq ft (4.6 - 6.5 sq m approx) = 0.5 people.

So you can safely say you are very overcrowded and are eligible for rehousing.
So the medical needs have been granted then?
Where abouts are you on the list?

Have you also been in touch with Shelter?

yes shelter have be very helpful although i have not applied for homeless status as they would only place me in a hostel,im very wary of doing this due to SS stating that it would be unsuitable and a care order would be applied for to remove him

we are on of the list of about 2000 ppl top of the list but at present the only 4bed social houses are a total of 5

But your homeless within a home so you dont have to accept the hostel.
I would take more advice from shelter and really consider this.
But the thing is in reality if they only have 5 4 bedroom houses,they cant chuck people out so its a bit of a rock and a hard place.
Would social services not allow you to take on a 3 bedroom property of the provision of adaptions being made within 12 months?

Have you got a social worker assisting you because i get the impression they are not helping just adding more stress to the problem?
Could you speak with a manager at social services or maybe contact your Local Mp or local paper?
