OMG thick housing people

Back in June Sophie's school physio came out to the house to fit her new bedding system. At the same time she did a check on our housing situation. She said that we needed to contact the housing people as we were no longer safe carrying Sophie up and down the stairs (manual handling issues). Finally after phoning for 4 weeks I got to speak with the Quanitity Surveyor for the housing. He said I needed to get letters from people overseeing Sophie's care to back up our claims of needing adaptations/ moving. I got letter from Sophie's Paed, physio and school teacher. (physio and teacher letters were fab. Outlined everything we needed now and for in the future) Anyway this morning have received a letter from the housing. It reads:- Dear Miss Matthewson RE:Stair Lift - Aids and Adaptations Program We refer to the above we are pleased to advise you yhat we have forwarded your details to BCC in order for them to assess your reques for an over bath shower. (it goes on about time frame for assessment and general time frame for work to be completed) Ends :- We trust this meets with your approval but should you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact me. OMG I am SOOOOOOOO MAD. ![]() I have an over bath shower already. I dont need another fitting. I dont have a problem with that. Physio's letter said we would need tracking and hoists fitting into the bathroom. There was no mention of the chair lift we need, stair lift mentioned in the title but thats no use to a child that cant sit unsupported. DO these people not read the letters sent to them or are they really as thick as they make themselves out to be. To top it all off they send the letter so it arrives on a Saturday when offices are closed so I have to stew till Monday morning. ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR ![]() Sorry to rant and sorry its long. Seems this is going to be a very long battle....... |

Can fully understand how you feel, my son needs a whelchair i live in a small 2 up 2 down terraced house with both my sons. i cant get his wheelchair in the house uless i take him out first then fold it. he is also fitted witha helmet as he has severe epilepsy. after talking to consultants and health visitor they said i should apply to be moved, i have done but council then sent a letter saying my sons needs where not enough to warrant an immidiate move and im now nearly 95 on thge list for a different house.i dont think housing department has a clue ive wrote to my local mp about this and he is looking into things. makes you so mad x
