Hello Vicky I can vouch Liverpool is the best for help all round, I am in Liverpool as well. My son is 6 years of age now and weve had help from the word go. We had a wet room installed this was put in the original room that was a box room so ok for a bathroom its brilliant we havent had any problems with this since installed in 2007, also look into getting your child a shower chair get your ot to sort this out, thyink about what you want, out shower area has 1/2 glass doors and the shower curtain around easy for me not to get wet and also to wash our son at the same time, my son is currently onto his 2nd flamingo chair got this through the ot, it has a whole in the seating area for son to poo/wee in shower or over the toilet seat this seat has a back on it they have one on the LIVING MADE EASY website take a look. We are looking at getting another one as son is changing now. Maybe if they dont move you maybe they could look into doing a downstairs extention for your child this was suggested for our son but my health isnt very good so going up and down the stairs would of been very bad for me, now we are waiting for a lift shaft to go in after waiting for them to start after 2 years of me changing my mind-long story! Also if your son is uncomfortable in bed the OT's can provide a specialised mattress for your child my son got what ie like the hospital ones - soooo comfortable.

We have had 2 brilliant ot's since son was born and i have continued to gather lots of information for parents with disabled children.

maybe its just us but there has been 'no rush' to help us, personally i would like to move out and 'move on' our house was adapted approx 6 yrs ago so joe could have his own room, but when the OT's assisant came out she said they are finding the work of our previous OT has not been suitable in most properties she had visited as she catered for the then and not looked into te future, the building work was a nightmare (took 9mths) and it is not someting i am prepared to go thro again i suffer from depression and i just couldnt cope with it again

I have filled in a health assesment form to accompany our application for property pool (it is a biddng system) even with that we were placed as medium priorty, we also applied to accesible homes who only have adapted properties but the won't put us on their list as we don't have an OT only an OT assisant the wait for an OT here is 8-9 mths i have really had enough now our MP has written to the cheif executive of our housing association to ask him to help us but as of yet we have not heard anything!

So how many bedrooms has your current property got?
