Announcement

Families who have children and young people with special needs very often deal with similar life styles. We have all had concerns ranging from education, acess to services, respite and other issues directly related to their childrens needs. Parents of disabled children bring families together for friendship, to share information and to support one another.

The forum was created by parents who have children with special needs and is run by parents so we are all in this together. With us you will realise you are not alone

Parents of disabled children launched in October 2009 and we are growing day by day and are fastly becoming a major support resource for all

As far as rent arrears goes you do NOT have to be denied help by a social landlord. Former tenant arrears guidelines are in place through government that if you are paying them off, have stuck to the payment plan and are able to maintain the payments on top of other essential outgoings then they can rehouse you on an introductory tenancy until the arears are cleared.
Something else that a lot of councils get into trouble for but continue to do if failing homeless families or other priotrity groups under the 'reasonable to remain' part of the legislation.
Scotland has some different 'quirks' in law BUT we all have rights and sometimes we need a professional to remind the councils just who they are supposed to help.
Specialist housing advice units are all over the UK, some are attached to CAB offices, some are with law centres and some stand alone.
Shelterline is always a good place to start as they will look at your case almost straight away but some areas are so overworked that you may need to find a local alternative so just google housing advice centre, law centre or housing aid with your area after it and see what comes up Smile
