Announcement

Families who have children and young people with special needs very often deal with similar life styles. We have all had concerns ranging from education, acess to services, respite and other issues directly related to their childrens needs. Parents of disabled children bring families together for friendship, to share information and to support one another.

The forum was created by parents who have children with special needs and is run by parents so we are all in this together. With us you will realise you are not alone

Parents of disabled children launched in October 2009 and we are growing day by day and are fastly becoming a major support resource for all

stammer/stutter?
cheapsensorytoys
Hi Lucy

Not sure it your little man is still stuttering but my son went through this.

He had 2 patches of stuttering, both linked to anxiety. The last one was the summer that he started big school and he was so worried about it. But once he'd settled in, he stopped stuttering!

his stuttering has settled down a little, im wondering if its being home in the holidays, he does still do it in certain situations so it probably is anxiety. i have also noticed that when i take him into crowded busy places that he starts hand flapping Blush i have never thought of him having a sensory problem before but im beginning to wonder if being in busy places is a bit like a sensory overload to him....will have to see how he gets on with his stammering when hes back at school next week. I have been doing 'special time' with him advised by the speech therapist which has been helping i think altho the last few weeks hes been reluctant to do it...his behaviours so up n down Confused
