I suppose it takes the body time to accept it. Because like any foreign body the body trys to reject it so this is most likely why people struggle with it at first but it does settle down and its not a constant fight anymore. Although they do still flare up. Thing the funny thing is when Euan has a nose cold his button gets all gunky ![]() ![]() Our Irish members can also use our new website for Ireland which is |

I can't believe this is such comman place, we have not been warned any of this, reading this thread it is terrifying me for Grayson to have the peg, does anyone believe it is worth it ?
Grayson is already prone to infections and at 19 months old this is the first month he has not been poorly. Sorry this is causing me to think whether I am making the right decision. |

the huge majority of children with pegs will say it is the best thing. its definitely even with all jacob's issues better for us than an NG tube saying that if it wasnt absolutely essential we wouldnt have one.

Thanks Logans Mummy, Grayson isn't NG tube fed and eats minimal orally but it is so little that he is now loosing weight, I know there is a reason for his tube, I am just frightened off him becoming ill again. I am sure like everything its just so hard to hurt your child, I 2nd guess myself all the time x

has he been tried with an NG tube? down here you need a minimum of 2yrs NG feeding (unless its dangerous to do so) before the put a Peg in, maybe its worth having an NG feeding trial so that you can see that he gains weight well with it and will know yourself that it is worth the risk, even with his peg my jacob still loses weight quite regularly, it may be that graysons weight gain will be slow and fluctuating even with tube feeds and so maybe not worth it.
