Announcement

Families who have children and young people with special needs very often deal with similar life styles. We have all had concerns ranging from education, acess to services, respite and other issues directly related to their childrens needs. Parents of disabled children bring families together for friendship, to share information and to support one another.

The forum was created by parents who have children with special needs and is run by parents so we are all in this together. With us you will realise you are not alone

Parents of disabled children launched in October 2009 and we are growing day by day and are fastly becoming a major support resource for all

We're home.
Thanks Carrie for doing an update. Managed to get hospital internet but it had some sort of block on a lot of sites. (this been one)

Sophie is doing really well after surgery. Gastrostomy looking good. Coping ok with it just a bit scared of cleaing roound it. Still a lot of dried blood on it but dont want to hurt her by pressing too hard.

Actually using it isnt any different than using the NG.

Sophie is learning to get around she just looks very funny. Am sure she will get use to it in time and as the soreness improves.

Glad its all over (just hoping they dont decide that they should of done the fundop).

Thanks for all your thoughs and wishes.
Love Sara and NG free Sophie xxxx

Thanks Daniel.
Been told I cant bath her for a week and got to just clean round it 12-6 and 6-12 once a day with the bits they given me.
Surgeon was Mr Parik. Registar was lovely, large ginger haired man called Andrew.
One of the other moms had a parents room and she was even a code to access the internet. Nice lady gave it to me too.
As for beeping machines and sats monitors well am sure I still got the nosies beeping in my head now. Along with the babies crying.
Dont know how parents can leave tiny babies on their owns all the time (very judgemental I know but I couldnt do it)

I think i have met the registrar at Euans intial appointment for the button.
He reminded me of an Eton boy Big Grin
I personally couldnt leave my children alone overnight but then there reasons some do such as being a single mum with no family to help or possibly having another disabled child and in some cases ive seen families with children who have been in hospital all there life and they have had to go back to work etc.
It would be tough.

We never had the bathing advice we were just told to avoid any bubbles and irritants as plain water was fine apparently Huh
