Announcement

Families who have children and young people with special needs very often deal with similar life styles. We have all had concerns ranging from education, acess to services, respite and other issues directly related to their childrens needs. Parents of disabled children bring families together for friendship, to share information and to support one another.

The forum was created by parents who have children with special needs and is run by parents so we are all in this together. With us you will realise you are not alone

Parents of disabled children launched in October 2009 and we are growing day by day and are fastly becoming a major support resource for all

update on our little family

Hi guysMost peeps won't even remember me I expect as it has been so long since I posted!
Well for those that do, we have had a lot of developments!! Thomas now has an official diagnosis of ASD. He now has diagnosis of Asthma and Eczema. He is now having regular sessions with the speech and language therapist and occupational therapist, plus behaviour therapy, play therapy and music therapy lol That's a lot of therapy!!
Yesterday the opthalmologist prescribed him glasses... eeek!! He won't wear anything like that.. sunglasses, ear muffs, hats, hoods.... anything "extra" so this will be interesting to say the least. We had to restrain him during his eye exam and then again in the opticians when choosing glasses. In the end, he did show a bit of interest in a mr men pair.. as that is one of his obsessions at the moment. We have a fantastic legal team sorting out our rubbish council, who have continued to deny that we need to be moved, and have now said if he tries to escape out the windows, its our fault for having them open lol. DHA have sent them a homeless in a home referral and we have been called in for a meeting with th e council tomorrow, so we'll see what that brings!!Anyway hope everyone is ok, big hi to Daniel and Lucy, how is Ewan?Keely x

Helloooo Smile wow you sound like you've been mega busy since we last heard from you!! Glad things have been moving in terms of diagnosis etc. Shame the council are dragging there heels still but fingers crossed your legal team will sort them out!!

We're not too bad thanx, euans had a few blips but on the whole he's doing pretty well. I'm hoping when he starts school full time in september that he will progress more as he'll have someone working with him properly, nurserys just a bit short to fit in speech therapy etc. Bit nervous at the same point tho lol nearly 7hours is a long day for him!!

Nice to hear from you xx

lol Ah I know just what you mean Lucy!! Thomas is due to start special school in September, and part of me cannot wait to see him getting a specialised education and enjoying himself away from us..... but the other half wants to cling hold of him and scream NO he's too little, leave him at home with mee!!

Thanks meagain, hoping to move sometime !!
