We have all had concerns ranging from education, acess to services, respite and other issues directly related to their childrens needs. Parents of disabled children bring families together for friendship, to share information and to support one another.

The forum was created by parents who have children with special needs and is run by parents so we are all in this together. With us you will realise you are not alone

Parents of disabled children launched in October 2009 and we are growing day by day and are fastly becoming a major support resource for all

Referral to Social Services OT
cheapsensorytoys
Hi wandering if anyone can give me any info on what to expect from social services Occupational Therapist. We already have Occupational therapy as my son has Sensory issues which they are dealing with but i had a visit from a home safety advisor as i am having problems with safety with my son the open plan kitchen turning the oven on his facination with draws and doors his night waking & climbing out of his cot landing on his head etc... but there wasnt much they could do except he should sleep on a matress on the floorAngry so what happens when he gets up 3-4 times a night and escapes out of my room and hurts himself 52.They did say they were willing to write a letter stating the property was unsuitable and it was dangerous for my son Chin Scratch. So my health visitor said if they couldnt help then i would be reffered to social services ot i dont know what they do are they different from a normal OTConfused

They can look at any adaptions they can make to make the property safe or in some cases will support a move if a council property.
Be prepared for a long wait though in some areas Sad
Speak with your local office and seek a time frame and obviously you need to push them for urgency as there are safety issues.
