My daughter hits herself too especially on the head, she would also bang it off walls when she is frustrated about something, so i'll be watching this thread to get some advice to, cause i don't know what to do either.

hi everyone ive been really busy so have not been on for a while. My son use to hit himself quite a lot on 1 occassion he hit himself so hard in front of our health vistor he cut his mouth open and got a nose bleed. the health vistor was horrifyed and we got a referal to Cahms. but my son also had other problems as well. Camhs worked with our son for several years durring this time he was put on Risprodone and was taught that it was silly to hurt himself, so then he started to hurt other people eventually he got use to punching his pillow and we learnt when to withdraw our son before his behaviour became out of control. He is 15 now and can almost control his temper he no longer has risprodone but has the support of a special needs school. and we have learnt when our son needs space and our son has learnt to notice when he is getting anxious. Im affraid there was no quick cure but he got there in the end.
