Incontinence Bed Pads- where to get cheaply?
|

Does anyone know where the cheapest place to get incontinence bed pads (roughly 60x90cm) from is? Due to Findlay's bowel issues he requires large doses of 2 different laxatives both taken twice a day. The results of these can be unpredictable and he might still not go, might do a 'normal' poo or it can be highly explosive and go everywhere (this morning it had exploded out of his nappy, his babygro was soaked all the way up to his neck with it and his sheet was covered) I have been using maternity bed pads in his cot to soak up any nappy explosions or feeding tube leakages and to make it quicker to change his bed in the middle of the night and they are a perfect size but they are quite expensive at about £4 for 5 but I wasn't sure where I could get them cheaper as I am guessing that Findlay is too young for the GP to be able to order bed pads through the NHS for him (he's 17 months)? Any ideas? Thanks x |

Have you asked your health visitor to see if they can help, if they can't I'm sure that they could point you in the right direction.

If it is for long term regular use you may find it far cheaper to use something that can be washed rather than disposed. Kylie bed sheets are perfect for this purpose.

id definitely go see your GP, he is too young for nappies or pads through continence services but if you have a friendly GP he may order some of the disposible bed pads, we had some for jacob a couple years ago as his peg was leaking so much, but i think my doctor knew i wouldnt be leaving his room until i had a prescription lol x

The gp was fab, I tentatively asked about the pads when I was there this afternoon and she just said yes right away so he has got a prescription for a box of 50 pads and I just need to let them know when I need more *thumbs up!* The midwife/nurse practitioner/district nurse (tiny rural practice so she does everything lol) also said that as soon as he is old enough for continence services she'll sort that out for him too.
