obviously I don't want to come on here an criticise a healthcare professional, and the majority who are involved with my son are amazing but....
Should I ask for a new physio? Can I do that?
his physio assessed him prior to discharge from SCBU and said shed would be in touch to arrange home visits. But never did. I left messages and she actually lied to my comm nurses and said shed tried to get in touch with us but we wernt returning her calls. She hadn't rang or left messages. Eventually we had an appt and she was good with nate. Nate went into hospital for a while, as I've mentioned before, and had the most amazing physio care while in. When out, then again we didnt hear from his physio who had been supposed to send us printed sheets with exercises on for me to do with him at home. Eventually she made an appt before Xmas, but cancelled because of snow. I've left her two messages and she still hasn't got in contact with us to arrange an appt. I'm really really annoyed. nate was supposed to get very regular physio for his hypotonia but disregarding what he had while an inpatient has seen one only once! He's 6 and a half months and gradually building strength.

huh disgusting isnt it the way they treat us , just because its not there children!!! im having the same with our physio...already complained to the consultant which i think was the wrong move....then she rang me and said whats the problem if you had a problem you could have told me , i said well ' i never see you to tell you!! so we started again ......and now its been a while and shes drifted off back to her normal routine!! and i dont know what to do........so let me know how u get on........ oh the worst is this my son has right hemiplegia therefore needs help with hes right side and in her report for hes statement she has put down he needs help with hes left side!!!!so there you go shows how much she knows .........grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr gets u mad

Hi Rachel, my opinion is if at the end of the day if your not happy you have to say something. We are the ones who have to fight some of our childrens battles for them, because they can't. As long as the person doing the complaining isn't rude, I don't see a problem. My husband and me have asked for second opinions and things before if we weren't happy. I suppose my only advice is we have enough things to deal with anyway, we don't need extra stress, so if your not happy tell them.

ive have changed a speech therapist before
because i wasnt happy they usually ask why you want to change for???
afterwards i got a new speech therapist for my daughter
and she was brilliant

if you do decide to change
just tell them
that she isnt relliable and want some one else
but be polite as you possibly can (dont lose it though with them)

yes I agree with sweetgiz, be as polite as you possibly can but tell her or another member of the team what the problem is. If you explain you are worried about your son's physical development they have to listen
