Announcement

Families who have children and young people with special needs very often deal with similar life styles. We have all had concerns ranging from education, acess to services, respite and other issues directly related to their childrens needs. Parents of disabled children bring families together for friendship, to share information and to support one another.

The forum was created by parents who have children with special needs and is run by parents so we are all in this together. With us you will realise you are not alone

Parents of disabled children launched in October 2009 and we are growing day by day and are fastly becoming a major support resource for all

Direct payments assesment at long last
cheapsensorytoys
Well many moons ago we asked for an assesment for direct payments and also to see if the childrens disability services team could help us in any other way and they put us on a waiting list to GO ON THE MAIN WAITING LIST go figure....... Huh
They offered us no time frame to even go on the main list but said it would happen eventually.... Dodgy
Obviously i didnt accept that Big Grin
So 9 weeks ago i spoke to the manager and he ASSURED ME we would have the assesment within 2 weeks but nothing happened and every time i called he was too busy to take my calls and i was told he would call me back............
The calls never came...
So i emailed a few people of importance such as the childrens minister and the disability minister in central goverment and the director for the local department on Friday just gone.
This morning Lucy called the social services team and was fobbed off with the same excuses so at 4pm this evening i thought sod it......
So i called them myselfs and i got the same excuse so i said i would call back and the receptionist said ok then....

So i wait two minutes and call back Fight
He is still busy so i say i will call back

So i wait another 2 minutes and call back
He's still busy.... 49

I kept doing this for an hour by this point the receptionist was spitting mad 44
And i tell her unless he calls me back today this will happen again tommorow but every MINUTE Confused
So low and behold the PHONE RINGS...... Blush

Its the manager Angel

He said a social worker will be out THIS WEEK TO PERFORM THE ASSESMENT and see how they can help.....

Not my normal method but Birmingham social services are not your normal social services so an unusual method but delivered results Big Grin

Had to share my fun and games and the result it gave...
Beat a letter this time for me 49
