Hi,
Timescales given to social workers indicate that the initial assessment should be completed within a maximum
of seven working days and the core assessment should not take more than 35 working days.
Although as many know this is not often the case Dodgy
Ask your local office how long they anticipate it taking and if they can not give a time frame or its a long time frame let me know and i will try and dig out some case law although its shaky ground really Blush

Hi Daniel

Thanks for replying.

had our first visit today (he was ok for a social worker) he has informed me that his assesment has to be compleated by the 15 oct i think that is reasonable Smile he also said we could (if eledgeable) have respite overnight stay and direct payments Smile so going wait and see what they come up with
so now i guess we wait...........................

Those timescales are for mainstream social services, for teams who deal with disabilities they get 65 days

We fight to protect our Children, and we continue to fight, challenge and Win for our children's sakes no matter what their age to give them a better life. We find an inner strength to do what we need to do and remember you are never alone!!!

I will seek clarification as many guides do state the 35 days even the contact a family guide states this too.

A very useful guide on the process can be found attached in which this also states 35 days. Huh
When we also had issues with Birmingham social services there director of services also said 35 days so all very confusing now.....

Also the date the member has been given listing the dates also sort of ties in with the 35 working days.
Have you any policy links on the internet to share at all showing this as it would be useful to check this Smile
