Poor jacob was admitted to hospital last thursday with a fever that wouldnt go down despite oral antibiotics, we suspected he had a gastrostomy site infection but we were wrong, on monday he was diagnosed with Acute herpetic gingivostomatitis and yesterday Acute herpetic pharyngotonsillitis. his mouth, tongue and throat are severly blistered and ulcerated and a week later his temp is still above 39. he cant eat or drink and is now terrified of food so we're back to 20 hour continuous pump feeds which is a real pain in the neck!
we came home this morning as there wasnt much more they could do in hospital which we cant do at home, but i'm gutted as he was due to have his MRI scan this afternoon in preparation for his genetics appointent tomorrow :-(. typical he should get so poorly now after being well for almost a year lol.
so we're faced with combatting Oral Aversion for the 3rd time in 3 years, fingers crossed we can beat it again! xx
