hi guys well jasmin is 2 in 3 1/2wks time and she still aint speaking.she gets very frustrated coz she cant tell us what she wants.cud there be a reason y she aint spking?

she already has vision problems (the chance of losing her sight in 1 or both eyes)

My daughter Jasmine's 3 now. She's got cp and visual impairment (though we think she can see more than specialists are telling us). She can't speak but she can very well let us know what she wants or doesn't want with her own little language and mostly the tone of her voice. She can only do "yes" in makaton and she uses it a lot. Does your child watch Something Special program? I found it was very good for Jasmine - one of the few ones she really enjoys watching

Hi - Does she make any effort to speak at all? By that I mean, does she try to say words? My little boy turned 3 this month and although he can sing through songs word for word (though not always clearly) he doesn't ask questions like other 3 yr olds do but will copy some of the stuff we say to him and is quite happy to babble away to himself in his own language! (Jack has ASD).

Has Jasmine had a hearing test? It could be that she isn't hearing what you think she is. Jack was sent for a hearing test last year cause of his language problems. It might be worth asking for one even if it's just to rule it out. I've worried myself sick over Jack's talking especially when I hear other children the same age having conversations with their parents, but have been told on more than one occasion by health professionals that he'll do it when he's ready. Though I know it's hard not to worry. Can your health visitor or portage worker (if you have one) help you out at all? xx

she watches sumthing special every day have sky+ loads lol have been trying makaton for a few months now but we dnt seem to be getting ne where.

she does say mama (well it sounds like it) but thats once in a blue moon.
jasmin has had a hearing test and that was ok.she has been reffered for speech therpy but tehy said teh waiting list is 13wks.

i know every child is different but my son was spking alot more by now even tho his speech is delayed.
