We have all had concerns ranging from education, acess to services, respite and other issues directly related to their childrens needs. Parents of disabled children bring families together for friendship, to share information and to support one another.

The forum was created by parents who have children with special needs and is run by parents so we are all in this together. With us you will realise you are not alone

Parents of disabled children launched in October 2009 and we are growing day by day and are fastly becoming a major support resource for all

Grant access
cheapsensorytoys
Hi all - I am desperately waiting for and OT assessment for my child – just to have the basic equipment to make life easier. Where we live there are only two OTs covering a large city. She has severe scoliosis and a Connective Tissue Disease (which we are still awaiting diagnosis for) and low muscle tone. I came across... this – thought it may be of use to you all. It is run by professionals - and worth calling them for a chat, if you are not sure.

Its a charity ive came across before and they seem like they may suit the needs of many people.
Do you have any idea on the amount of funding they can offer?

No - when I spoke to the them all they said was. You are entitled to one grant per year, so put as much equipment as you can down as you would have to wait another year to apply.

Someone also sent me this one today: [url=http://www.familyfund.org.uk

We are getting desperate we have nothing to manual handle our daughter. I am writing to our MP tomorrow as enough is enough!

Thanks Daniel

We are having a terrible time trying to get an OT out, all I've been told is that she is not near the top of a very long list!

I have starting writng an incident book. On Saturday I was on my own with Edith. I have scoliosis and arthritis too. As we climbed our steep stairs at bed time I had to lean against the wall to catch my balance which meant crushing Edith's hand against the wall and my shoulder - It did hurt her (it wasn't serious this time!) She also slipped off the sofa as the cast she has on is just like a shell and just slips on our leather sofa. Luckily (this time) she broke her fall with cushions.

As well as noting the incidents I will be a calling the OT every time to report them. So at 9am today that's my first job, then our local MP. It's just not good enough. At the moment our physical quality of life sucks!

Thanks again Smile
