Announcement

Families who have children and young people with special needs very often deal with similar life styles. We have all had concerns ranging from education, acess to services, respite and other issues directly related to their childrens needs. Parents of disabled children bring families together for friendship, to share information and to support one another.

The forum was created by parents who have children with special needs and is run by parents so we are all in this together. With us you will realise you are not alone

Parents of disabled children launched in October 2009 and we are growing day by day and are fastly becoming a major support resource for all

hi busd
my brother went the haven route and he got vouchers and i think he took them into a travel agents to book (certainly wasnt done online as the price he paid was more than the haven site quoted), they also do thomas cook vouchers too. i went for money for day trips as haven isnt suitable for matt
corinne

There comes a point in your life when you realize:Who matters,Who never did,Who won't anymore...And who always will..
So, don't worry about people from your past, there's a reason why they didn't make it to your future.

Hello 'busd35'

We are going through HAVEN this year.

FIRST POINT:
You will receive a letter from the family fund saying how much you have been awarded. When you have been awarded the money, get in touch with HAVEN and let them know which site you want to go on, check online there's lots to choose, from one end to the other.

Also a good tip is ask for a caravan specially adapted, we didnt have one last year and it was terrible, this year we are having an adapted caravan, do check website out as this will show you all the caravans and the site of your choice.

http://www.haven.com

We are going to Yorkshire again and staying @ the Blue dolphin, I wouldnt recommend Reighton Sands as it stunk of sewage by the beach and all around.

2ND POINT:
When you have chosen your destination and the price. For instance our holiday cost £633.20p Haven gave us £500. all we had to put to it was £133.20p, they can either email or post your receipt and keep in a safe place till you are ready to go. You will need to take all the documents with you on holiday.

3RD POINT:
We applied (2nd year) to TREFOIL who give grants for hols or spends. First year we applied we were given £500. thats the max, this year i applied and got £350. they ask to send in photos and how the money helped towards the holidays. If you apply 2 years on the run you cant apply for another 3 years, which seems fair. I only applied this year as we had a lot of expenses this year and i explained this in my letter. The money goes direct into your chosen account. The website for TREFOIL is

http://www.trefoil.org.uk

Couldnt thank them enough, the money helped us enjoy our holiday even more knowing we had spends!

Let me know how you get on.

x

Forgot to say i rang them up and spoke to them on the phone.
Also another tip take your own bed linen as they charge you £20+ so make sure if you want this or not. Some sites accept dogs and if taken any a charge of £20. x
