Announcement

Families who have children and young people with special needs very often deal with similar life styles. We have all had concerns ranging from education, acess to services, respite and other issues directly related to their childrens needs. Parents of disabled children bring families together for friendship, to share information and to support one another.

The forum was created by parents who have children with special needs and is run by parents so we are all in this together. With us you will realise you are not alone

Parents of disabled children launched in October 2009 and we are growing day by day and are fastly becoming a major support resource for all

Its just been the usual thing of coping with Christmas & the holidays & also all the appointments and things happening at the start of the holidays I don't really know where to start with talking about it all! We had a good if quiet and slightly unconvential Christmas (plain boiled spaghetti for the childrens Christmas dinner etc!) but it has been nice whereas the school holidays usually are a total nightmare for us so that was good. The day after school starts 3 of us are going through the tenders that the council has received in response to their renewing the contract for lots/(all?) the disabled childrens services in our area (3 of us are doing holiday care for the younger ones & other parents are doing other services/ages) so that will be busy for a couple of days and then one of us is going to the panel to give the parents input. We've seen the paediatrician, occupational therapist and social worker so lots has happened on that. Mostly I've just had time to pop on & see how you are doing but not to start typing anything! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and that the New Year will be a good one. xxxxx

Hi Bessie,
Did you have the meeting?
How did it go?

today i havent done much but part the Children as they were all off school, every appointment cancelled for this week. i cleaned reece's bedroom - it was like aladins cave down the side of his bed. it was 12 am before he dropped off to sleep, little alex fast on by 8 or 9.

i have been saving a little money which i am to spend on improving our house - so that would be more paint to cover the drawed on walls. i bought alex and reece lots of new clothes so i need matching stuff for alex. she is so beautiful like an angel, she is like a blonde snow white. i dont know where she gets her looks from - certainly not me.

What sort of tips and advice did they give you in regards to sleeping?
It would be great to get some tips for members and see how it works.
