Announcement

Families who have children and young people with special needs very often deal with similar life styles. We have all had concerns ranging from education, acess to services, respite and other issues directly related to their childrens needs. Parents of disabled children bring families together for friendship, to share information and to support one another.

The forum was created by parents who have children with special needs and is run by parents so we are all in this together. With us you will realise you are not alone

Parents of disabled children launched in October 2009 and we are growing day by day and are fastly becoming a major support resource for all

hello i have posted on here before my son has complex needs. he has bein at his nanas for couple of days while i went to ireland to see the family. i have got back and she said my son has bein missbehaving. she has told me that he has wee on her bed i think not by acident. all these behaviours he is showing i dont know why he is. he has bein asking for his buggy when he was out and i think i know why is because they went to manchester when it was packed out with people and he wanted a safe place to be which is his buggy. he didnt want to be picked up and his grandad had to go back to the house and get some toys to distract him but i dnt think they worked so they went home. i always tell family and that to take the buggy just incase for one his mobilty with walking round isant good he gets tied easy. and i think he has anxioty issues.i have bein in a shop and he has lay on the floor and just kicking off having meltdowns so you cant really do any shopping. but when he has his buggy he is ok. his dad always says dnt take a buggy which anoys me because i know my son gets scared and tied. but he dosent understand atall. and im the one who has to deal with it most of the time.

Thanks, was just hard to comment without knowing hes age Smile
Cant realy comment or give you advice on hes begaviour as im currently in the same boat with my little boy.
Is it possible he has been playing up as hes been missing you whilst youve been away and knows he can play ur parents up? So he then gets what he wants? I realy dont know.
As for the pram/partner business.
Your partner proberbly telling you to not take the buggy, as he prob thinks ur little boy is to old for this now, and doesnt want to believe he is making hes child lazy, but this is not the case. My son has issues when out and no sence of danger etc and sometimes crys to be carried etc so in the long run a pram would be easiest and best way for us on long days out (my son is nearly6), and i too thought that i cudnt put him in a pram as i would make him lazy and pull him back in hes development. but im sure in the long run it would be the best option. Same for ur son, if he does get scared in crowded areas, and wont walk etc when out then the pram is proberbly the only option you have untill he over comes this fear, and it can be extreamly hard, with him having disabilitys etc!
Hope tht makes sence, Just wanted to let you know your not the only 1 in this boat and i can deeply symathize with you!! But keep ur chin up hun and keep doing what u feel is best for you and ur child! xx
