hello i have posted on here about my sons problems.he has complex needs and his paed said he could have sensory intergration, i have noticed he smells everything we was out today and he could smell the food we had and he said can he smell my new top i was buying. he smells the cat and he is always putting things in his mouth, he puts his spidermanm toys and he is always putting his hands and fingers in his mouth. i am just wondering if this is a sensory sign of what people with sensory issues. he is getting tested for everything at the moment. he is 5 and he also dosent like to get messy or he dosent like his feet to far of the ground. anyone got any advice |

sorry dont have any advice but matt has always done this, especially with his food he has to smell it before he eats it and if he thinks it smells right he will take a photo before he starts eating if we are out lol we always put it down to hiding his lactalose in his drinks when he was younger hehe.
putting toys in his mouth i think is called "mouthing" matt is a terror for chewing everything especially cardboard, can always tell when he is hiding it in his mouth and just say "out" and he looks at me and drops the cardboard into my hand, on the plus it produces a lot of saliva so his teeth arent as bad as they could be as its hard to get him to have his teeth brushed and was on childrens paste till recently i think matt just has a high sense of smell and its enjoyable for him yet smells that make me feel bad like going past farms and manure he doesnt even flinch he never liked doing anything like finger painting unless he could wash his hands straight after but he grew out of that though it took a while and carried wipes everywhere for a v long time. There comes a point in your life when you realize:Who matters,Who never did,Who won't anymore...And who always will.. So, don't worry about people from your past, there's a reason why they didn't make it to your future. |
