Fund Raising Advice Needed
Hi All Well a very kind friend has offered to run the half marathon to help raise funds for Zack. We are in the process of opening a bank account for him but I would like some advice on fund raising. Having spoken to the bank they said I would just need to open a treasury account or something is this case or do I need to do anything else in particular for it. I want an account that will be able to show where the funds are being used etc. Also my friend has asked what will the fund be called, this is a good point, what do people usually call funds, is it name of child then fund or something else. Any ideas would be gratefully recieved. Linz x |

it is usually the childs name unless you have a particular name but with his name everybody knows who its for.
i might be wrong but i think a treasury account needs 2 ppl to sign to take money out to prevent fraud. (used to have one for parent group) so dont know if that similar as we raised money for story sacks. think one of them would have to be outside of family somebody trustworthy. its nice that your friend is doing that, its not an easy one to do ![]() corinne There comes a point in your life when you realize:Who matters,Who never did,Who won't anymore...And who always will.. So, don't worry about people from your past, there's a reason why they didn't make it to your future. |

Thanks Corrine. Yeah I think that's why we want a treasury account so that it needs two signatures that way everything is clear cut.
Yeah it is good of her and hopefully we will be doing more fundraising in the future to help our little guy. x |

Just wanted to check the money will only benefit Zack and not his condition on the whole?
If its just Zack then you need to set up a non-charitable trust fund. From what i remember you would need to get a solicitor to draw up the trust deed document and once it is signed and stamped, the trust will exist. I expect you realise that you cannot describe your appeal as 'charitable' in anyway. The bank account would normally ask for this certificate when setting up the account. I know Nationwide offer these accounts so maybe a quick call to them for finer details on what there qualifying criteria would be. Another good website for your information would be http://www.charity-commission.gov.uk/ that has alot more detail in regards to this sort of thing and a call to them would also confirm the legal view point. ![]() Our Irish members can also use our new website for Ireland which is |
