thank you for all the advice
i have rang them an they are going to send someone out just waiting for when
there were loads stories in local paper praising council on their new windows/kitchen but complaining because not got a new door
so i sent a email to paper in response to there brilliant council along with the pictures wonder if il hear anything

the flue pipe is actually going out through part of the window they have borded up
im the only one with it there as everyone got a new kitchen apart from me as previous tenant put a new kitchen in years ago

its a nightmare the room itself is big but i have a tiny amount of useable work surface, 2 tiny sinks that leak (they have resealed an done plumbing so many times an always blocked)
the cooker is wedged between washing machine an fridge no other space as freezerr has be otherside or room so now fridge not working right

if previous tenant had the kitchen done themselves (and i thought council tenants couldnt to that) then i cant see why you didnt qualify for a new kitchen, even if it was under the fact it is not suitable for you the way its been designed, and from sound of it not been fitted properly (sounds like a diy job) if the paper get back to you i would tell them about that too, only reason i didnt get a new kitchen is because they put one in just before i moved in (new ones were a lot nicer Sad) so it had only been about 4 years and was not designed properly due to last minute decision to put a wall in to make toilet indoor (which they took 3 yrs to get round to lol)

The thing with the DIY kitchen fitting is that a council surveyor should have approved the plans and inspected the works once completed. any electrical or gas works will have needed a cerificate from the registered trades people who undertook them or the council has invalidated their bricks and mortar insurance.
If they cannot provide you with copies of both inspections then it has to be deemed a breach of the tenancy by the previous tenant or a failure by the council. In either case the age of the units must then be disregarded and should be replaced as part of the upgrading scheme.
It may be that the original kitchen was in the same design as the new one with all apliances right next to each other but you have a good case here to get the house in good order and far more comfy for you all Smile

il have to check into that
i could live with kitchen itself its all dark oak so not cheapy but the layout is awful sounds very sad but i would love a draining board/ proper sink

tbh i cant see that they checked it after they fitted it as the plumbing was all wrong i had to get them out to redo it all as sink would block then 2nd one would have smelly goo some up from pipes

ive got email back off paper asking for my address they want to contact council and question them
just worried council will get funny with me an not do any work here

if your paper is anything like ours the council wouldnt dare not do anything they have to be seen as doing their job right and the paper will be watching to make sure they do so u have them behind you as well its a bit like the "those who make most noise" as having the paper involved its like going in and shouting and embarrasing them into doing the work they should have done in the first place.
