Holidays Advice Needed Please
|

My autistic daughter is 17 years old now and a lot of the charities offering help for payment towards a holiday have a cut off age of 17 years. Are there are any charities who offer help for people 17 and above as I am a single parent of 2 girls and struggle to pay for holidays. Any help or advice would be much appreciated. |

Hello 'Mags40'
I have found a site only recently found by myself on a search for something else. Disabled children under 21 years of age can go, so this should be suitable for your daughter. The holiday place is: The Harriet Davis Seaside Holiday Trust For Disabled Children. check the website out @ http://www.harriet-david-trust.org.uk Also if you are looking for extra funding please also check out the website out @ TREFOIL. The max they can give you for spends or towards a holiday is £500. you will need supporting letters, plus also when waiting on this support from specialists to remind them that you are waiting on them as they seem to take there time when getting back in touch with Trefoil. If you apply 2 years on the run (amount will go down), you cant apply for another 3 years, to give others the chance. 1st year i applied I got £500. this year i applied again I got £350. This year has been a struggle getting money together and in a letter to TREFOIL i explained why i was applying again. Don't leave applying to the grant TREFOIL apply as soon as you can so you get the money in time for your holidays. After your holiday they ask you to say why the money helped your family enjoy your holiday and how the money helped, also we sent photos of our holiday. I hope this information was helpful. xxx

i think thats a problem with a lot of the older children with autism, they dont have consultants or specialists to get supporting letters off unless they have an understanding gp at least in my experience i dont know of any who havent been signed off over 10 yrs ago
There comes a point in your life when you realize:Who matters,Who never did,Who won't anymore...And who always will.. So, don't worry about people from your past, there's a reason why they didn't make it to your future. |
