Parents of disabled children bring families together for friendship, to share information and to support one another.

The forum was created by parents who have children with special needs and is run by parents so we are all in this together. With us you will realise you are not alone

Parents of disabled children launched in October 2009 and we are growing day by day and are fastly becoming a major support resource for all

Free bus pass for disabled people
cheapsensorytoys
Hello Daniel

I tried to find out about the free carers on the Free bus pass for disabled people/carers. Our son has the bus pass, but i was told there isnt one for the carers i would still have to pay. If i give you where i am do you think you could find out please?

I live in Walton, Merseyside, Liverpool L9 if this is any help. Thanks.

local councils have discretion about whether to offer the companion/carers pass and it looks like your local council dont offer carers bus passes.
When the bus pass scheme changed a few years ago the local councils couldnt afford the changes and some cut the companion passes which they had offered previously.
So it looks like you wont be able to get a carers pass

I enquired about the carer part of a bus pass too and our local authority doesn't give free travel to carer's, only to the card holder, we're in Greater Manchester.

Many local councils also offer carers passes for FREE or at a major discount.
If you use local buses and you are fed up of paying to get around then you should take advantage of a free bus pass.

If members would like to know more about there scheme in there local area please reply letting me know what council/region you come under and i will give you details of your local schemes.

hi i live in Birmingham could i get one thank u lisa
