well today the paeditrican went into my sons nursery to observe him and then we had a multidisaplinary meeting after with all professionals involved, my son is almost 3 n half and was today diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder!! its been a day of mixed amotions but its also such a relief! we have been waiting 7 n half weeks for a decision from dla now, i did put on the forms that harvey had a vebal diagnosis which was to be made formal in september so i dont think i need to do anything on that front?? we have been referred for help from social services for help with respite etc and we have to go on early birds plus with my sons school support worker! just had to tell someone to make it feel real!! kerry x |

Your not on your own
another member had a diagnosis yesterday of autism too. Its good that they're refering you to social services, I'd take time to think about what you ant from them in terms of respite etc so you can be clear when they do eventually come see you. Are you going to get your son statemented or is he already? The diagnosis should deffinatly help with that and if you are be sure it says asd on it.How you feelin now its takin time to sink in!? N how's bump? Xx |

harvey already has a band 5 statement which entitles him to full 1 to 1 support at nursery!! and the senco there is contacting them to have the formal diagnosis stated on the statement, so thats all covered! i dont know anything at all about respite so il have to look further into it as i have no idea whats available?! but the educational psycologist and paeditrican said that social services can offer alot of help and to take everything we can. yes bump is doing very well thankyou although its definatly wearing me out lol........... im not sure if how im feeling is normal cos i dont feel like i should be feeling like this , of course iv had some tears but i feel so reliefed and happy almost giddy like something really good as happened! but at least now we can enjoy our son without watching and questioning every little thing he does wondering is it/isnt it although deep down we knew it def was! thanks again x

Do you have a copy of your daughters statement? She attends a special school doesn't she? I think in order to attend a special school you need the maximum when it comes to statements? Correct me if I'm wrong as I'm still going thru the process but from what I can gather you do.
I think the way ur feelings probably normal as like you said, you no longer have to question him and yourself! Its probably an utter relief to you which is why you feel so happy don't miss being pregnant lol altho I only have to look at a new born to be broody but just kno at the moment I couldn't cope so won't be going there for a loooooonmg time ![]() Xx |
