Announcement

Families who have children and young people with special needs very often deal with similar life styles. We have all had concerns ranging from education, acess to services, respite and other issues directly related to their childrens needs. Parents of disabled children bring families together for friendship, to share information and to support one another.

The forum was created by parents who have children with special needs and is run by parents so we are all in this together. With us you will realise you are not alone

Parents of disabled children launched in October 2009 and we are growing day by day and are fastly becoming a major support resource for all

When your child defy the doctors or other acts of amazement.

Simple one here........

Have you ever been told your child cant or wont do something and has then go on to defy the doctors or even told they wont do something in education and then has gone on to do something that has amazed you?

How has your child beat the odds and made you feel that moment of proudness?

Lets here your stories?

oh yes was told at 9 months chloe wont be able to walk, talk, even sit, all she did was lay down and kick her legs ( no dx then still no dx) but our physio worked and worked with her till she got her to roll then, sit then walk.
dont get me wrong still not great at all these things but she does them all the same and getting better! and tbh we didn't think she would get this far was sure we would have lost her by now she stops breathing for no reason at all.

but she as a lovely smile and a great personality every one loves her, and dont cry muchSmile even when ill like todaySad

WOW!
What an outcome for you.
Thats the thing i think sometimes if somebody tells you a child wont do it people can give up even trying.
Well done to you and your childs health team.
What a life changing thing!

l was told my daughter wouldnt do anything other Children do she has proved them all wrong she can walk a little only indoors but its walking she can talk didnt say a word till she was 10 but making up for lost time not always understood by people who dont know her but it makes live easier at home when you dont have the frustration tantrums we still see the same specialist she had as a baby and he calls her is miricle she is mine as well as she was so poorly as a baby and she is now a strapping 5ft young lady with a lot of guts and determination the determination usually used to get her own way lol
