clock is ticking and my daughter starts in few wks at pre school iam so worried, i have got a meeting with nursary before annabel starts.there is bsl worker there, will this be enough for her? she needs one to one but the education panel have only given 2hrs wk no wonder iam scared to leave her i dont feel she will be safe enough and will they cope with my child that isnt talking.and doesnt no any dangers,and is my child going to have no hair left by end of wk from no one understanding her,ahhhhhhh sat in tears and there isnt any one local that truely understands what iam going thou. any help would be great. thankyou.

Oh dear you sound very worried. Has she been to any nursery/Day care yet? Most nursery classes have additional support within the group to assist the nursery teacher but obviously one to one is what your child needs. Is there any way you can appeal the 2 hour decision? I'm sure though you and the nursery will see very quickly whether that is enough for your daughter but maybe you could arrange to have a chat with the nursery teacher after the first few days or so to see how she is coping.

she been to appletree lots but had one to one but they didnt put her hearing aids back in if she took them out which she does all the time as she doesnt like them.and to top this of she has had few injurys there as she pulls things down or climbs on objects she shouldnt be doing.she had to go hosptal 3 times with head injury from them not watching her enough so u can see my consern health and safely is must but she wont be getting one to one in nursary.

I would contact SNAP for advice to see if you can appeal against the 2hours award if you do not feel it is enough to meet your child's additional needs.

I know in my area panel meetings are held every fortnight and I'm sure once your little one starts at nursery the school will realise that she needs more support and take it back to panel to get more hours.

TBH with the needs you are describing for your child I certainly don't think 2 hours is enough and your child needs a support worker. My son is very unsteady on his feet, has no speech and delayed development, he is at nursery for 15 hours a week with a support worker that the school already employs but he does have funding. He will start reception in September and I have regular meetings with the school to discuss Kurt's needs. These meetings are attended by Education Leeds (the people who supply the funding), the actual support worker, his physio, his speech therapist and sometimes his occupational therapist.
I've been very lucky as Education Leeds were put in touch with me through our specialist health visitor. Do you have ahealth visitor at all, perhaps you could talk to them. Kurt has regular development check-ups and I often discuss things like schooling with them and they get the right people to get in touch with me.
Of course it's different for everyone in different areas. I think we're quite lucky to have such a good team of people behind our son. I hope you can get some advice from somewhere, it's terrible when you don't feel your child can be away from you and be safe :-(
