Parents of disabled children bring families together for friendship, to share information and to support one another.

The forum was created by parents who have children with special needs and is run by parents so we are all in this together. With us you will realise you are not alone

Parents of disabled children launched in October 2009 and we are growing day by day and are fastly becoming a major support resource for all

cycling and skiing for cp children
cheapsensorytoys
Hi there, Are there any parents out there whose children have learned to ride a bike and/or ski despite suffering from cerebral palsy? Our daughter has spastic diplegia, is mobile and expected to start walking at some point. My husband and I are very keen skiers and always assumed she would be on skis as soon as she is big enough for the equipment. My husband still thinks it's going happen (only later than originally hoped of course), but I'm not sure at all. I also wonder now if she'll ever be able to ride a normal bike. I asked our physio about bike riding the other day and she said she certainly will be able to, but then mentioned special trikes. I don't want to give up hope yet though that she might be able to ride a normal bike eventually. So any experience you can share with me regarding children having achieved these things despite having some form and degree of cerebral palsy, please let me know.
