Announcement

Families who have children and young people with special needs very often deal with similar life styles. We have all had concerns ranging from education, acess to services, respite and other issues directly related to their childrens needs. Parents of disabled children bring families together for friendship, to share information and to support one another.

The forum was created by parents who have children with special needs and is run by parents so we are all in this together. With us you will realise you are not alone

Parents of disabled children launched in October 2009 and we are growing day by day and are fastly becoming a major support resource for all

family fund and community care grants

carers grant?? as for my doctor she once pulled me up because she had some reports from different agencies about assesments at home - i dont know why but i was thinking oh no what she going to say. well instead she wanted to say how well i was doing, and that shes had report after report of how child orinetated my house was. and that people had said that they were amazed with the things i was doing with the Children . she also was told that i didnt have any family support which she found a shame. she loves that my Children are so happy. and she once gave me a bowl to take a pee sample from my daughter and she cracked out laughing when i said - what i am supposed to do chase her round with it?

Hi Becky,
According to the grant criteria for cerebra they fund the following:

Specialist car seats
Power wheelchairs
Therapies (please check if your therapy is one we are able to fund)
Trampolines
Sensory toys∞
Tricycles and quadricycles
Digital drum kits

You mention that you were considering sensory toys so this would fall within these guidelines and i suppose you could look at suppliers of sensory toys on the internet with sites such as

http://sensoryuk.co.uk/products.aspx

Get an idea of pricing from sites like these and look around on pricing and say you have found several options and list these and also if possible i suggest enclosing some print offs and list the benefits these pieces of equipment may bring your little one.Smile
Just make the application as strong as possible and you will be fine.Smile
